Pea limit increased

Hello all!

We are increasing the sugar snap pea seasonal limit to 7 quarts. This means that to date you may have picked a TOTAL of 7 quarts (not 7 quarts in addition whatever you already have picked). They are really good right now. The fat ones are the sweetest - pick the pod, pull of the string, and eat the whole thing. Repeat.

We are keeping the season limit of strawberries to 3 quarts. By this morning's estimate was that there are 530 pickable quarts in the patch. Each quart could be picked in a 6 foot bed. There are more berries coming, but it looks like the season will end quickly this year. So, if you haven't picked your 3 quarts yet you should do so soon. The first twenty feet of the patch always gets worked over quickly. The backs of the new patch and the older patch have a lot more fruit hanging. Enjoy! The berries are nice. It looks like we have a temperate forecast ahead and good picking conditions.

News from Flannery -Events Coordinator Extraordinaire:
We have some great events happening this week at the Farm. We hope to see lots of kids on Friday for the Seeds extravaganza and there is still plenty of room in the strawberry jam workshop. (Just think of all the memories and summery warmth a little jar of homemade jam will evoke in February!)
I also wanted to draw members attention to the events happening at Cornell Cooperative Extension Tompkins County this summer. What a great resource!
