CSA Core Group Formation

Hello CSA Shareholders,

Howdy from your farmers. Some of you may have heard of something called a CSA Core Group. A Core Group is a group of shareholders who want to be a bit more involved in their CSA. Paul and I would like to invite the membership, with our help, to form a Core Group for Sweet Land Farm CSA. The Music Conservatory in Trumansburg has kindly offered a meeting space on Friday, the 12th of February at 6pm. So, if this interests you, we welcome you to join us for the evening.

Paul and I will bring a list of things that we’d like a Core Group to help with on the farm. We'd like to take it slowly this year and have the Core Group involved in several distinct activities. A few of these activities are a Strawberry Festival, other seasonal potlucks, potential work parties, and the potential to host some sort of cooking class or recipe sharing in our new building. By taking it easy the first year we'll all have time to set a good foundation of working together, and perhaps be in a position to expand the role of the Core Group in future years. We will share a description of how we think of the CSA and explain our CSA philosophies. Through a core group we hope to improve the CSA for all – the shareholders, the farmers and farm workers, and the farm itself. Our mission statement might help clarify this point:

OUR MISSION IS TO RUN A FARM BUSINESS THAT HELPS OUR FAMILY, COMMUNITY, AND ENVIRONMENT TO THRIVE IN HEALTH, SPIRIT, AND ECONOMY.

There it is folks. We mean it, that’s why we’re here. We’re here to try to make a good thing for the community, ourselves, and this beautiful bit of soil. Maybe it’s bigger than we are, so we’d like some help!! We would like to hear your ideas that helps our families, our community, and our environment thrive in health, spirit, and economy.

Thanks,

Evangeline and Paul
