Growing Notes

Greetings from the farm! Things are going well. We have a wonderful
crew and the crops are growing nicely. That warm snap a week or so ago
really brought on some growth! The strawberries are looking lush and
filled with sweet promises - I've even seen a flower bud or two.  We
have a strawberry patch twice the size as last years patch, so, if we
have a good strawberry year there could be lots of berries! We moved
our new chicken ladies onto fresh clover this weekend and it is
amazing how fast they eat through it. Really nice bright orange yolks.
The new chickens are just starting to lay so soon we will have a
plethora of eggs. Yesterday we got the leeks, second generation of
kale and chard, 3rd generation of lettuce and broccoli, and some
flowers transplanted (purple cone flower and calendula). Today we will
plant the two big greenhouses to tomatoes, basil, and sweet peppers -
hurray! It's fun to see how fast those crops grow. Paul planted the
first generation of greenhouse cucumbers on Saturday and we can
already see growth.
IF YOU ARE PLANNING ON SIGNING UP FOR THIS SUMMER'S CSA PLEASE DO
SO SOON. We have about 100 spots left to fill and they usually fill
very quickly in May.  If you have already
signed up - Thanks!
